SIMATIC HMI offers at a favorable price a compact keypad operator panel specifically designed for PROFINET environments. Eight larger, ergonomic keys are indicated by five different colors to form one unit. For the larger control panels, you can add additional devices without gaps and connect them electrically via an integrated Ethernet switch, creating a loop via 24 VDC. For the relevant applications, there is also a fail-safe version, the KP8F.

Design and functionality

The SIMATIC HMI KP8 can be supplied with eight large illuminated buttons, which can be easily labeled with label strips. The buttons feature haptic feedback, so they can be operated reliably even when wearing gloves. You can set five colors (blue, green, red, yellow, and white) and set the brightness of the buttons via STEP 7 hardware configuration. There are eight I/O pins on the back, which can be used to connect other controls. The keypads can be mounted together without gaps and, with the aid of an integrated Ethernet switch, the units can become part of a bus-type topology, even with a 24V DC circuit.

Pushbutton Panel KP8F - Fail-safe version

Thanks to the integrated PROFIsafe communication, this keypad panel can be used for fail-safe operation of simple emergency stop applications together with the SIMATIC S7-300F/400F. The two additional fail-safe inputs of the KP8F can be utilized with two Emergency Stop buttons to achieve SIL 2. If an Emergency Stop button is connected to only one of the inputs, SIL 3 can be achieved. The KP8F can be handled by two fail-safe controllers through the shared device PROFINET function.
